A bit of Summer

I have been MIA lately. Life has been pretty rough at times. Unfortunately, I have gotten behind on a lot of things. I have missed a few important appointments. I had some commitments that I had to put on the back burner.

I had planned on schooling through the summer but so far that has not really happened. So blogging obviously was not on the top of my to-do list.

Although we have had to deal with some rough patches we have had a great summer. That's the thing about rough times, they do actually make you stronger. So even though I could look back on our summer and have a pity party for the yucky things, I am choosing not to. The more I choose not to focus on the bad things the better the good times feel. The easier it is to realize that everyone has rough times. Everyone deals with junk in their life.

When I give up my feelings about what I want out of life and focus on what really matters, the plans God has for me, the easier EVERYTHING is.

Alyssa did AWESOME at softball this year. It was her first year playing with all girls that have played for years. She made friends, learned so much and truly enjoyed every second!
We had many a nights at practices and games.
The end of the season they were playing in 100 degrees! Whew it was hot! But she learned dedication and tricks to stay cool. ;)

We had some visitors to the field too. Nana and Papa came out to watch her play and so did Uncle Shawn.
Summer nights are perfect for family softball.

Some nights after Alyssa practiced or had a game we wouldn't leave the field until 11!

Taylor scootin it to first base!

Mommy has to show 'em how its done. NOT!
They made it to the third game in tournaments. The last day they played it was over 100 degrees. They played good all year and I think if it hadn't been for the heat they would have made it a lot farther.

Brian has been trying to get me to go to the creek for years. It made me nervous but I finally agreed. Now I wish I would have listened to him a long time ago! We have been having a blast. Even Taylor loves it!

My guys always have their fishing gear ready.
I love these girls!

It cracks me up every time I see pictures with the kids in shoes in the water. Brian has this thing about his feet. He can not stand the thought of one of the kids getting a fishing hook or some thing in their foot. lol! I'm a rebel I I can not stand to have shoes on in the water!

My explorers!

The first time we went to the creek we just hung out in one spot. Brian decided he wanted to tube down the creek the next time we went. We parked our car at a stopping point and headed up the creek for what I assumed to be a few hours tubing. WRONG!

It took us 8 1/2 hours to get to our stopping point. YES 8 1/2 HOURS! Granted it was only about 3 miles. The creek was pretty shallow. So there were parts that we had to carry Taylor and our boat full of "essentials". I had two guys stopping to fish. Down trees. Snakes. Lunch. Snacks. Drinks. Tube adjustments. Holes in the that led to water filled boat.

It was a blast but I don't see that happening again in the near future. It was a long day.

Taylor chillin in the water. She told me more than once that she was having a "blast"!
I need to look up what kind of snake this was. Alyssa was a bit freaked out after we encountered him.

This year for the 4th of July we went to a church picnic. We have finally found our home church and it feels so good. I forgot how good it feels to belong somewhere. To be surrounded by like minded friends that treat you like they have known you forever. I love it.

It was a fun time.

Our garden is so pitiful this year. We started it late and then when we did start it it never really took off. Bummer. The only things we actually have growing are watermelon, pumpkins, tomatoes. peppers and cantaloupe. Pitiful, I know.

The kids started their own little garden and I am a bit jealous happy to say it is growing WONDERFULLY!

So I am hoping that things have slowed down enough that I can get back into blogging. I actually have missed it. :)

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Thankyou for your blog(whenever you get to do it).  Thanks for taking us on your trip down the creek.  Your pics and blog makes us feel we were right there with you all(except it only took me a few minutes to go through your blog and pics not over 8 hours.  lol

They look like they had loads of fun!  I am not a snake fan so I would have freaked out if I saw that snake near me.  Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment.  I appreciate it.
